Background

madeinroath is an artist-led event, now in its 9th year, which aims to take art out of the gallery and into the wider community.

It showcases the work of emerging and established artists, makers, musicians, writers and performers, who use the whole of Roath as the venue, including domestic, commercial, public and overlooked or disused spaces. You do not need to be a Roath resident to participate in the festival.

madeinroath offers residents and visitors an opportunity to engage in the arts through a dynamic programme and events, including an open exhibition, open houses, open studios, film, poetry and literature, music, visual arts, outreach, education and workshops.

This year’s madeinroath festival will run from 15 – 22 October (with the main events happening on the 21/22 October)

Project

We are looking for expressions of interest from artists who would like to be part of madeinroath's visual art/happenings 2017 programme. The potential manifestations of artwork are wide ranging, and could include performance, sound, installation, movement/dance, events, sculptural, public intervention, video, spoken and written work, light works, photography and 2D. We are asking for new work, not an existing body. Artists working in any media are able to apply and we encourage applications from artists at any stage of their career. Appointments are based on proposal, with a view to appointing a range of projects from a variety disciplines.

Location

madeinroath will assist in finding suitable spaces throughout Roath for the successful projects to take place. Previous venues include empty shops, cafés, churches and places of worship, on the streets, in windows and on noticeboards, online/digital and interactive, in community halls, pubs and at the Saturday farmers market etc. If you have a location or type of location in mind for your project please state this in your application.

Festival Theme

The curatorial theme for this year's festival is Longer Tables, based on the quote ‘When you have more than you need, build longer tables not higher walls’. The closed road event will feature a series of longer table commissions, to be presented along a table that runs the length of Plasnewydd Road.

Applications are welcomed for the Longer Tables closed road event, as well as for the wider festival programme.

Cefndir

Mae madeinroath yn ddigwyddiad dan arweiniad artistiaid sy'n cael ei gynnal eleni am y 9fed tro. Ei nod yw arwain celfyddyd allan o'r oriel ac i mewn i'r gymuned ehangach.

Mae'n arddangos gwaith artistiaid, crefftwyr, cerddorion, awduron a pherfformwyr - profiadol ac addawol fel ei gilydd - ac yn gwneud defnydd o bob rhan o'r Rhath; mannau masnachol, domestig a chyhoeddus a mannau sydd yn segur neu sydd wedi cael eu hesgeuluso. Nid oes angen i chi fod yn byw yn y Rhath i gymryd rhan yn yr ŵyl.

Mae madeinroath yn gyfle i drigolion ac ymwelwyr gymryd rhan yn y celfyddydau trwy gyfrwng rhaglen ddeinamig a digwyddiadau sy'n cynnwys arddangosfa agored, tai agored, stiwdios agored, ffilm, barddoniaeth a llenyddiaeth, cerddoriaeth, celfyddydau gweledol, gweithgareddau allgymorth, addysg a gweithdai.

Cynhelir gŵyl madeinroath eleni rhwng 15 a 22 Hydref (bydd y prif ddigwyddiadau yn cael eu cynnal ar 21/22 Hydref).

Prosiect

Rydym yn gofyn i artistiaid nodi diddordeb mewn cymryd rhan yn rhaglen madeinroath o ddigwyddiadau yn 2017. Fe allai gweithiau celfyddydol gynnwys perfformiadau, gweithiau sain, gosodiadau, digwyddiadau, symudiad / dawns, digwyddiadau, cerflunwaith, ymyriadau cyhoeddus, fideo, darnau llafar ac ysgrifenedig, gwaith â golau, ffotograffiaeth a 2D. Rydym yn chwilio am waith newydd yn hytrach na gweithiau sydd eisoes yn bodoli. Gall artistiaid sy'n gweithio mewn unrhyw gyfrwng wneud cais ac rydym yn gwahodd ceisiadau gan artistiaid profiadol a dibrofiad fel ei gilydd. Bydd artistiaid yn cael eu penodi ar sail eu cais a'r bwriad yw comisiynu ystod o brosiectau mewn amrywiaeth o ddisgyblaethau.

Lleoliad

Bydd madeinroath yn helpu i ddod o hyd i fannau addas ar gyfer prosiectau llwyddiannus ledled y Rhath. Mae'r lleoliadau a ddefnyddiwyd yn y gorffennol yn cynnwys siopau gwag, caffis, eglwysi a mannau addoli, strydoedd, ffenestri a hysbysfyrddau, gwefannau / adnoddau digidol a rhyngweithiol, neuaddau cymunedol, tafarndai, marchnadoedd ffermwyr ac yn y blaen. Os oes gennych leoliad neu fath o leoliad mewn golwg ar gyfer eich prosiect chi, nodwch hynny yn eich cais os gwelwch yn dda.

Thema'r Ŵyl

Thema'r ŵyl eleni fydd 'Byrddau Hirach', ar sail y dyfyniad canlynol: ‘When you have more than you need, build longer tables not higher walls’. Bydd y digwyddiad canolog, pan gaiff rhai o ffyrdd yr ardal eu cau, yn cynnwys cyfres o weithiau comisiwn, i'w cyflwyno ar fwrdd a fydd yn rhedeg ar hyd Heol Plasnewydd.

Croesewir ceisiadau ar gyfer digwyddiad y Byrddau Hirach ac ar gyfer rhaglen ehangach yr ŵyl.

Amserlen

Dyddiad cau ar gyfer cyflwyno ceisiadau: dydd Gwener 11 Awst, 5pm

Dewis a phenodi artistiaid: erbyn dydd Mercher 16 Awst

Dyddiad cau ar gyfer cynhyrchu deunydd marchnata: 31 Awst

Dyddiadau'r Ŵyl: 15 - 22 Hydref (nid oes rhaid i'r prosiect bara holl gyfnod yr ŵyl, gall bara am ddiwrnod, awr neu gyfnod penodol arall)

Cyllideb

Gallwch wneud cais am symiau gwerth hyd at £500. Fe allai'r swm hwnnw fod yn gyfraniad cyfatebol at brosiect mwy o faint ac fe fydd madeinroath yn falch iawn o'ch cefnogi chi yn hynny o beth.

Sut i wneud cais

Er mwyn gwneud cais, anfonwch lythyr ac amlinelliad byr o'ch prosiect arfaethedig. Does dim angen i'r cais fod yn gyflawn neu'n gynhwysfawr - gall fod yn fan cychwyn neu'n ddisgrifiad o gyfeiriad cyffredinol y prosiect arfaethedig. Efallai y bydd gennych brosiect mewn golwg eisoes. Os felly rhowch gymaint o wybodaeth ag y gallwch.

Dylid ategu'r cais, yn ôl yr angen, â lluniau a gwybodaeth am eich gwaith blaenorol. Fe allai hynny gynnwys sioe sleidiau PowerPoint neu ddelweddau digidol fformat jpeg neu PDF (10 delwedd ar y mwyaf) neu glipiau fideo digidol (hyd at 5 munud o hyd). Dylid rhifo delweddau a chlipiau a chynnwys rhestr gyfatebol o fanylion pob ffeil - teitl, dyddiad, dimensiynau, lleoliad a chyfrwng. Cofiwch gyflwyno CV cyfredol hefyd, os gwelwch yn dda.

Anfonwch eich ceisiadau at happenings@madeinroath.com. Ni ddylai eich ffeiliau a'ch atodiadau fod yn fwy na 6MB.

Dyddiad cau: Awst 11, 5pm
