4 Takes on Nature

We are a small group of ceramic artists based at BaseArt Studio and gallery, where we gather to create and share our experiences of working with clay.

Nature is our common inspiration, from microscopic to naive, the transparency of foliage to the geometry of the landscape.

Claire Spencer-Jones creates vessels of unorthodox shapes and carves images of nature onto their surfaces.

Susan Zeppellini explores nature under the microscope lens producing contemporary sculptures.

Amanda Whiting’s work is a journey through naivety where she envisions a world without seriousness and with much joy and humour.

Joanna Israel’s work is precise and meticulous where the preparation and execution are very important and when put together the formation is magical.
