Outlandish Theatre has been theatre company in residence at the Coombe Women & Infants University Hospital for the last five years, having been invited to inhabiting a previously underused theatre space adjacent to the clinical wards. Bernie and Maud established an Open Theatre Practice open to participants in the hospital and the wider community of Dublin 8, developing co-created performance projects, forming a link between the hospital, its community of workers and the wider community of Dublin 8. Threads is a first time engagement with long-term patients on the ward.
madeinroath have recently been working with the Links Mental Health Service to provide creative opportunities for people who are isolated at home due to anxiety or depression.
The project THREADS, is currently at the early stages, with mir mailing a poster with a series of prompts to be included in the Outlandish Theatre project pacts. In exchange, mir letters written by the Outlandish Theatre participants which will be delivered to patients in Cardiff via the Occupational Therapy contacts which mir has made over the last year.
Packs include the letter, and the materials necessary to make a written or an object based response which will then be sent back to Outlandish Theatre to be distributed amongst their project participants.
