As a child it was only normal for me to know my Grandfather as a stroke victim. In correlation with the celebrations of the Centenary of Roald Dahl and re reading ‘The B.F.G’ I noticed the large similarities between the main character and my Grampy. They reflected one another. Mirroring the mannerisms, speech impediment and physical inabilities of a stroke sufferer, the B.F.G showed the caring nature of any grandparent. But why the BFG? Growing up, grandparents were always the people one would go to when the parents said no, always a treat to visit Nan and Grampy’s house, an environment of warmth, comfort and a sense of safety from the people you would look up to. Remember feeling so small in the arms of your Grandfather, the large figure that is constantly interested in what you have to say, wanting to hear all about your day? Please get close to the B.F.G, interact and allow the large figure to make you feel small, comforted and young again. Made in Wax and Resin.
