Exactly, what a day that would be! On Peckham Rye, William Blake, at the age of eight saw ‘a tree filled with angles bright angelic wings bespangling every bough like stars’, I’m not one for angels, but what a word ‘bespangling’.
There are people who live hoping to see the sign, and others who’ll never know that they’ve seen a sign, and yet others who know that there are no signs to see.
That said. The city is littered with signs, with a host of instructions, pleadings and inducements,. These signs are none of that. Lacking prosaic utility, they puncture the city’s common visual procession, and post course for other for reasoning.
A matter of looking up and taking a chance on possibilities that seem so distant when otherwise immersed in the ordinary way of things.
