THE BALLOON GIRL experience at Cathays Library will be an activity-led event, with circus activities and reenactors in period costume. There will also be a reading by the author from the book about an accident that shocked the Victorian residences of Cardiff.

Louisa Maud Evans, a young girl who longed for fame, ran away from the security of a circus in search of her dreams. She made it to Cardiff where the international ‘Fine Arts, Industrial & Maritime Exhibition’ was in full flow. There she climbed aboard a gas-filled balloon, rose 10,000 feet into the overcast sky…and then?
