The work in this exhibition is centred around hope and optimism, using art as a means of escaping the world of homelessness. The project also addresses issues around mental health, substance misuse and ostracisation. Cardiff is facing a homelessness crisis and this project endeavours to reduce the stigma of homelessness and to make the public aware. Gwalia works with a wide range of client groups of all ages, including families, ex-offenders, people with alcohol or substance misuse issues and people with learning or physical disabilities. The artwork in this exhibition is made by people currently staying in their Richmond Road centre who have been working with the artist and support worker Patrick Coombes, who set up a regular art class at the centre.
