A selection of images by Cardiff photographer Zara Mader celebrating the punk icon Poly Styrene. Her influence and place in the punk movement is the reason for this exhibition. Most of the images have a punk aesthetic.

2016 starts the forty year anniversary of British punk. To commemorate the influence of the genre on generations of music fans, the focus on Poly Styrene is to bring attention to a different face in original punk. The interest in her helped see the contribution made by women in punk which is something that should be remembered and celebrated.

The vegan café Anna Loka, venue of the exhibition, was chosen because Poly Styrene became a devotee of Hare Krishna after her time in Xray Spex. And as the owner of the café is also a devotee it seems a fitting link between her public persona and her private life.
